Fun Weekend

We had a great weekend. Brian didn't have to work Saturday and we were able to spend the day together. We went to a holiday craft fair, lunch and a Christmas open house. Daniel had fun chasing a toy christmas train around the tree. He also met Santa & Mrs. Claus. He wouldn't get to close but he did accept a candy cane from Mrs. Claus. The rest of the day we played at home.

Sunday, we attended a friend's church that was participating "Orphan Sunday". We along with two other families shared our adoption stories with the congregation. After church we went to a chinese restaurant for lunch.

Now, if we can just get Daniel to go to sleep!!!

Happy Halloween! (a day late)

I love Halloween! However, now that I have a child it is even more fun. We attended 4 halloween activities this week and I am now exhausted. Daniel was supposed to dress up as a dinosaur as his costume. He had other ideas. He decided that he wanted to be a cowboy. We dressed him in work boots, khaki pants, white t-shirt, Leather jacket and a leather hat. He really looked more like Indian Jones than a cowboy. He was happy and I was very happy.

Last night he went Trick-or-Treating with his cousin, Aurora. He was adorable running up to the houses yelling "trick-or-treat" and saying "thank you". I was so proud. He too now loves Halloween and was singing "halloween" during the hymn in church today. He keeps asking to go trick-or-treating and when I put away the Halloween decorations today, he got up set. Next year is going to be even better!

Welcome!

This is my first attempt to have my own blog. Previously, I had hired someone to create a blog for us to share our trip with others to adopt Daniel. I have been told that this is pretty easy, but I am not a technology savvy person.

We have a lot of exciting things happening in our life right now and I am so thankful for each one. Today, Brian signed a deal for our business to have office space. I am thrilled because I will finally have our entire house back! For years, we have housed our business in the extra bedroom. We will now have space for a play room for Daniel and will be able to move his toys in from the garage. This week I found a snake in his toy area!

We are in the process to adopt another child from China. Our paperwork is in the final stages and now we are waiting to receive a notice from Homeland Security to permit us to take our fingerprints. This has been a long process in the past and I believe that I have post traumatic stress syndrome because of our last encounter with them. I am working hard at having a positive attitude and praying for quick service.

To be honest, the only reason I have created this blog is to chronicle our journey to China for our next child. I hope that I will be able to navigate this system properly to help our family and friends watch us as we welcome the next addition to our family.

Love & Blessings to all,

Kirsten, Brian & Daniel

P.S. Please try to overlook my spelling mistakes:)
